Five Minute Friday: Beyond

On Fridays around these parts we stop, drop, and write.

We write bold and beautiful and free. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.

GO:
It's hard to see beyond the "now". To know what's around the corner, wondering how things will end up. We have friends in the same position now, as we were this time last year... waiting to find out where the church was sending us/our husbands as soon-to-be newly ordained pastors. It was hard to put our trust in God, knowing that He could see beyond and we just had to rely on Him. That's easier said than done, and giving that advise to them now "Rest assured that God is walking the path with you, and in fact has already walked it and knows exactly where you will be... it's really hard not knowing but my biggest comfort was knowing that God already knew. We are certainly praying for you. God bless! xxx". It seems kind of shallow when we found it hard to believe it ourselves last year!

I love the Footprints in the Sand Poem. It helps to remember that even if you can't see beyond, when you look back you'll see just one set of footprints, where God carried you.

So, even if you can't see beyond, trust that God is already there, waiting for you!

  1. It is hard to trust that beyond sometimes, isn't it? Love this reflection and trust that you are now experiencing some of what you worried about last year. Waiting for that pastoral call is tough sometimes - been there, done that. But for me, not my husband - at mid-life. Just retired last year after 14 years in an associate position. It's a good life, but it's also a hard life. So prayers for you both as you continue down this road!

  2. Love that poem too. Thanks for the reminder that God is walking with us. I needed it.

    Happy Friday.

  3. I love that poem. I have a keychain with that poem on it. Reminds me that He's carrying me when I feel I can't walk. Bless you for the reminder.

  4. Feeling like a third wheel, but I do love that poem. Praying that God would give you both His peace beyond compare (Phil. 4: 6,7) as you wait...waiting is hard.

    Blessings!
