How to Plant Your Garden

I don't know where this originated, but I received this via email and thought I'd share it on my blog.

How To  Plant Your Garden

First, you come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses.

For the garden of your daily living:-

Plant three rows of peas:

Peace of  mind
Peace of heart
Peace of soul

Plant four rows of squash:

Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness

Plant Four Rows of Lettuce:

Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be patient
Lettuce really love one another

No Garden is Without Turnips:

Turnip for meetings
Turnip for service
Turnip to help one another

To Conclude Our Garden You Must Have Thyme:

Thyme for God
Thyme for each other
Thyme for family
Thyme for friends
Water freely with patience and cultivate with love.  There will be much fruit in your garden because you reap what you sow!

  1. I am not sure of the name of the hymn but at my grandma's recent funeral we listened to the hymn (at her request) that starts "I come to the garden alone when the dew is still on the roses." As an avid gardener I think she would have liked this post.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts, Danielle. I wondered where the first line actually came from that lead into the rest of the script. I googled the hymn you were talking about... how lovely it is:

I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear falling on my ear
      The Son of God discloses.

      Refrain

And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
      And He tells me I am His own;
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
      None other has ever known.

He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing,
And the melody that He gave to me
      Within my heart is ringing.

      Refrain

I’d stay in the garden with Him
Though the night around me be falling,
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling.

      Refrain
